Overview
Based on the international Kegeln competition rules. A 30-frame single-player Ninepin format where cleanup mode kicks in halfway through.

Compatibility
Ninepin Only
International is based on the official Kegeln competition format, which is played exclusively on Ninepin lanes. The 9-pin diamond layout, the cleanup mechanics, and the scoring thresholds are all designed around the way pins interact in a Ninepin arrangement. Adapting it to a Tenpin layout would change the game fundamentally, so we keep it authentic to the format it comes from.
How It Works
International is LaneCraft’s recreation of the international Kegeln competition format, played solo over 30 frames with a single shot per frame.
For the first 15 frames, all 9 pins are reset each frame and you bowl for the highest pin count you can. From frame 16 onward, cleanup mode activates: pins stay where they are between shots, and you must knock down at least 9 total across multiple shots to clear and reset. Your final score is the total across all 30 frames.
The Kegeln Heritage
Kegeln is the German word for bowling, and the international competition format has been played in European clubs for over a century. It tests consistency, precision, and the ability to adapt when the game changes underneath you. LaneCraft’s version follows the official rules as closely as the hardware allows, bringing a format that most Australian bowlers have never experienced to private lanes and venues.
What Makes It Different
The first half and the second half feel like different games. The opening 15 frames reward clean, repeatable shots against a full rack. The back 15 reward reading whatever pins are left and converting awkward leaves under pressure. Players who cruise through the first half can fall apart when cleanup mode begins, and players who struggled early can claw back points if they are good at converting.
That mid-game shift is what gives International its reputation. It is not just about how well you bowl. It is about how well you adapt.
Who It’s For
Serious bowlers, Ninepin enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to experience the format that competitive Kegeln players train on. International is a solo game by nature, so it suits players who enjoy testing themselves against a score rather than against opponents. It is the deepest single-player mode in the LaneCraft library.
