Stina

Three centre pins. Hit all three for the legendary STINA.

9-pin Compatible

Overview

In Kegeln, knocking down only the three centre pins is called a Stina. In this game, they are the only pins on the deck. One shot per frame, pure precision.

Compatibility

Ninepin Only

Stina exists because the centre column is a true straight line on the Ninepin diamond: pins 1, 5, and 9 in a row. That exact three-pin target is the entire game. On a Tenpin layout the pin arrangement does not produce the same shot, so Stina would lose the precision challenge that defines it.

How It Works

Only pins 1, 5, and 9 are set, forming the centre column of the Ninepin diamond. One shot per frame. Knock down one pin for 1 point, two pins for 3 points, or all three for 6 points and a “STINA!” callout on screen.

The Name

In Kegeln (European Ninepin bowling), a Stina is when you knock down only the three centre pins from a full rack. It is one of the most precise shots in the game. LaneCraft’s Stina mode isolates those three pins so there is nothing else on the deck. The challenge is the same, but there is nowhere to hide.

What Makes It Different

The three-pin column looks simple until you try to hit it cleanly. You are not bowling for area, you are bowling for line. A tiny drift left or right changes the whole result, which is why even very good players bounce between brilliant frames and frustrating near-misses. Power means nothing. Placement means everything.

Who It’s For

Ninepin purists, precision bowlers, and anyone who enjoys chasing a perfect shot. Stina works best when the lane wants a proper challenge rather than a party mode. It rewards repetition, calmness, and a willingness to keep refining the same line.

Parent’s Guide

Three pins in a line is a deceptively small target. Throw slightly off-centre and you will catch 1 or 2 pins instead of the full STINA. With such a narrow setup, missing looks completely natural. Even experienced bowlers struggle with this one. You genuinely do not need to act; just relax your aim a fraction and the game takes care of the rest.
